 Avian Vet Discussions
« Thread Started on Nov 26, 2008, 10:43pm »

Discussion thread for news about new or existing Avian Vets.

Have you found a new Avian Vet or a Vet that has an interest in birds?

Would you like to tell us about the one you use?

How about some recommendations!

I would be very happy to recomend Dr Ed Layt at wishart in Brisbane (QLD). I took an abandoned canary to him that had a mangled leg. He was gentle with the bird, never said anything like 'oh its just a canary put it to sleep' that i have heard from other vets (about my mice). He showed me the leg (ewww) told me what he was going to do and was very optimistic :) When he brought back lil birdy he explained what he had done, gave me a small bag of antibiotics and explained how to set its cage up to accomodate the stump leg. He answered my questions and I never felt patronised or dismissed :)
When I got to reception, he only charged me the consultation fee!!! I had explained that it was abandoned, that I was on a disability pension but wanted to do the best for the lil bird.
I will tell my other bird friends about him and i know that this was a special case (regarding the fee, etc) but his attitude and gentleness were outstanding :)
