I would be very happy to recomend Dr Ed Layt at wishart in Brisbane (QLD). I took an abandoned canary to him that had a mangled leg. He was gentle with the bird, never said anything like 'oh its just a canary put it to sleep' that i have heard from other vets (about my mice). He showed me the leg (ewww) told me what he was going to do and was very optimistic When he brought back lil birdy he explained what he had done, gave me a small bag of antibiotics and explained how to set its cage up to accomodate the stump leg. He answered my questions and I never felt patronised or dismissed When I got to reception, he only charged me the consultation fee!!! I had explained that it was abandoned, that I was on a disability pension but wanted to do the best for the lil bird. I will tell my other bird friends about him and i know that this was a special case (regarding the fee, etc) but his attitude and gentleness were outstanding
